Weekly Summary

The run-up to August’s vacation month brought a lot of pre-sand and sun business. Big companies were prominent: PEMEX named partners for a major cogeneration project, while SICOSS agreed to use IBM’s Cloud infrastructure for its claims management systems, and Grupo Bimbo bought another Americas baker, extending its reach to Ecuador. Things still go better with Coke, as it announced it intends to spend US $1 billion a year in Mexico through 2020. In the renewable energy sector, Spain’s Gamesa sold 100MW of wind turbines, keeping its Mexican market share over 70%. In the narrowly-defined tech sector, WEM Creative Studio was named the best web development marketing service for the month of July by topseos.mx.

After Hours invites readers to New York’s Latinbeat film festival and Hot Tamales suggests that when you go, you take along a bottle of tequila to celebrate next week’s National Tequila Day.

Hasta la próxima!
