We’d like to tip our hat this week to theLatinbeat film festival, running from July 11 – 20 at New York’s Lincoln Center. The festival offers moviegoers the chance to see some of the best emerging directors in Latin America along with their more established, award-winning, colleagues. The festival showcases a wide range of films from powerhouses such as Argentina, Mexico, Chile, and Brazil as well as those from countries with smaller film industries such as Colombia, Costa Rica and Ecuador.
This year’s lineup includes the story of a Mexican garage band (We Are Mari Pepa), heavy metal fans in the Andes (Holiday), a Venezuelan film dealing with gay and transgender issues (My Straight Son) and a Brazilian story of friendship between a lonely train driver and a station controller (The Man of the Crowd). Check out the promotional video on YouTube and, if you’re in New York, book tickets! Hazlo rapido, the reviews son excelentes!
Hasta la próxima!
