Before there was MexTech there was Mexican cinema, and a steady star of that cinema was Cantinflas (Mario Alfonso Moreno Reyes), who was born and died in Mexico City, and whose life spanned nearly the entire 20th century. For many, he was the best-loved Latin movie star of the century. After Hours remembers his films competing with Hollywood blockbusters all over Latin America. Now, he’s a Hollywood blockbuster himself: an eponymous biopic, Cantinflas, is set for release at the end of August, just in time to help us relax at the end of the summer vacations. We don’t want to carp, but wasn’t there a Mexican actor to play a Mexican actor? Check out the Latin Post summary and trailer.
Hasta la próxima!
