For those of you lucky enough to have World Cup tickets, here’s our tip on where to find a decent Mexican meal in the host city. We’re told that finding a quality Mexican restaurant in Rio is a bit like finding a good curry house in the American Midwest. Si Señor on Leblon’s Avenida General San Martin may prove us wrong. The tequila selection demands attention with no fewer than five different brands ranging from a standard Cuervo to a Reserva Anjo, with the Cuervo the main ingredient of their excellent Margaritas. The menu is pretty standard fare – lots of tacos and burritos – but Time Out recommends the tequila shrimp appetizer and the fajitas with “juicy and flavoursome” steak.
Speaking of Margaritas, we couldn’t resist posting this video. The filming stinks, but you’ll wish you could invite the bartender to your next party (“…forget about that Cuervo Gold, leave it for the movies”).
