Weekly Summary

More big players moved towards Mexico this week: BMW is reportedly within a couple of months of naming the site for its first Mexican auto production plant, and Singapore’s Temasek decided to join other shareholders in Virgin Mobile’s Latin American expansion. Carlos Slim’s América Móvil moved to attract new users and retain old ones by signing up with Mozilla to offer Firefox OS phones in Mexico. Elsewhere in the news, US and Israeli companies will offer tech-based mapping, survey, and security services, while CEMEX chose new senior management to replace the deceased Lorenzo Zambrano.

After hours, we learned that Mexico’s World Cup hopes rest on a squad of abstemious footballers, and that we just missed one of the finest Cooking Collectives around. We’re booking for the next Mesamérica now!

Hasta la próxima!
